Oxfordshire County Council commissioned Landmark to design and implement the signage for the Park & Stride scheme which are a series routes that give families the opportunity to walk, talk, and have fun on the way to and from school whilst reduce congestion around the school gates, providing a more child-friendly area and creating active, healthier and happier communities.
Landmark worked closely with the council to design an inclusive, accessible, and legible wayfinding signage ‘family’ which included coordinated fingerposts, waymarkers, lecterns and lamppost signs, designed to fit seamlessly into the surrounding neighbourhoods and match with the specialist ground markings, footsteps and icons used in the scheme.
Manufacturing the right signage spec for the scheme was very important so our Venice Fingerpost, Tokyo Waymarker and Cardiff Lectern were selected for their superior durability, aesthetics, and versatility. With a 10 year anti-fade guarantee, graffiti/vandal resistant properties, and smart edge to edge HardRok graphics panel, the Cardiff lectern was the perfect solution for the Park & Stride project which aims to improve lives for many years to come.
Installation of signage in high footfall, built up areas of public realm requires meticulous planning and attention to detail, with Chapter 8 compliant vehicles for working on the highway and CAT scan surveys to ensure installation areas were free of cables and pipework, the Landmark installation team worked hard to ensure this brilliant scheme was ready for opening completed successfully.
Overall a very happy project and we hope the parents and children enjoy walking it as much as we enjoyed designing and installing it!
