About This Project
With over 400 hectares of countryside in the Clyde Valley, Strathclyde Country Park offers a dizzying range of activities. These range from bike hire to watersports, fitness to a nature trail and it truly is a perfect family destination.
The Bellshill Gateway is a new entrance to the park with a cycle tracks, play areas and other facilities and this required a fresh look at the signage and wayfinding to enhance this wonderful facility.
Landmark were privileged to be selected to work along with the talented team at North Lanarkshire Council to develop a family of signage which would fit in with the Council brand guidelines, while being distinctive and adaptable for future expansion.
A combination of timbers was used – solid oak for the waymarker posts, orientation signs and smaller monoliths, with Accoya for the larger monoliths taking advantage of its dimensional stability and resistance to moisture. HardRok panels with their characteristically striking print quality and durability paired perfectly to produce a long-lasting and distinctive statement.
The photographs were taken in March with a nip in the air and a stiff frost, which just enhances the clean minimal lines of this very special signage project. We look forward to seeing the scheme extend in the years ahead and salute the outstanding work done by the Council to provide and maintain this precious open space with all its facilities.
